Newsbin Pro

The Usenet system works like a hybrid between forums and email services. Instead of looking for a topic on a single server, you can search for that topic across several servers. Besides a Usenet account, you would also need a Usenet client, to receive the latest updates for topics you are interested in. Newsbin Pro is one of the most popular Usenet clients on the market, due to its modern interface and flexible functionality. The software allows you to search for specific articles, create and update groups and much more.

Newsbin Pro's installation package is only 1.75 MB. Before installing the software's components, the setup wizard will ask you to specify a Usenet server and make a few basic configurations. Newsbin Pro works on all popular Windows platforms and it does not ask for additional tools or drivers.

The user interface consists of two panels, located on the upper and lower halfs. Each panel displays various items on separate tabs. You can browse through search results, groups and articles on the upper panel. The lower panel is where you can find active, failed and completed downloads, logs and connections. You can bring up additional panels, if you wish to see a list of servers, thumbnails or other items.

You can use keywords and various filters, on the Search panel, if you are looking for specific article groups. It is also possible to save groups and categorize them in a list, on the same panel, but on a different tab. Once you add one or more groups to your database, you can use different options to update individual groups or all of them.

A group's contained posts can be displayed in a list, on another tab. Right clicking a listed post will reveal numerous options, for reading the post or replying, downloading the post and much more. While downloading a post, you can view the progress on the lower panel. When the process is complete, you can move, copy, rename or delete the downloaded file and perform other actions, on Newsbin Pro's interface.
